A dictionary is man's attempt to put into words all that he knows. For he is the steward of this world, he commands each and every thing, abstract and concrete, with its name. That even those he does not know he calls the unknown, hence he is also the master of it. The dictionary is man's attempt to measure and define how much he knows. It is his vanity, but a helpful one.

Part of my rumblings after my brother asked what was I doing with a large dictionary, what its purpose is if not everything written in it would be used, and why the need to make a dictionary. :-\ Unfortunately I wasn't in the mood that day to humor him because I was too busy completing my word list; whenever I read a book, I list all the words whose meaning I do not know or words that I'm uncertain with the definition. I wish I had adapted this habit from the moment I started reading serious books (which was in grade school). Anyway, I've finished 7 books within the past couple of months and am now on my 8th. Actually, 8th and 9th because I got a 2 books-in-1. I'm also going to start reading some classics and I'm looking forward to reading the 2nd volume of Sherlock Holmes' novels and stories! :)
